Literacy Analysis

Notes for the Literacy: Paper PLEASE READ BEFORE WRITING PAPER!! This Paper determines if I pass this course!!

Title: The Incident of the Curious Dog in Night-Time

Author: Mark Haddon

The body must focus on 3 aspects as specified in the thesis sentence. The thesis is a single sentence. *Stated below*

Identify the author

Thesis sentence should be the last sentence in the first paragraph.

*My Thesis Sentence is: The main character Christopher Boone is an autistic teen on a mission to solve a mystery murder while struggling to understand his emotions, people around him, and their intentions.*

The three aspect are elements of fiction or a mixture of theme and other elements of fiction you are examining in your paper. You could examine the theme of conflict, or identify how it is a modernist model. (I as your instructor should clearly identify which element of fiction you are examining in your paper and it should not be a guessing game. I should clearly be spell out in your thesis.)

Examples from the text and 5 outside sources should be used to support the student’s opinion and analysis.

Paper should be in 3rd person only!! No use of I, you, your, we, us in your paper.

There should be a mixture of student’s interpretation supported with direct quotes and summaries from the text and resources with in-text citations.

The Three Themes that I chose are: Asperger’s Syndrome, and trust and losing trust, and how the novel fits the definition of post-modern fiction?

The Incident of the Curious Dog in the Night-Time is an example of post-modernistic fiction that mixes puzzles, math solutions, cartoons, drawing into the narrative text and it is also a mystery genre.

Christopher may possibly have Asperger’s Syndrome (it never mention in the novel that he had it, that’s why it is a possibility)

The novel is written from his (Christopher’s) point of view and therefore is a Modernist novel focused on interiority or what is actually going on in the mind of Christopher.

Theme includes: Isolation, being a teenager, seeing the world differently, fear, language and communication, love, lies, and deceit, emotional, spiritual, and more, Plus, you may have define these themes using different words and that’s fine.

Rubrics in the first paragraph.
